How to: Notebook vs Netbook

of people don't really know. And what's happening is that people are seeing this little, very affordable, very small, very cute looking 0-0 laptop and they're buying it because they think it' a laptop. It looks like a laptop. Screen, keyboard, USB ports, power connector, it looks like a little laptop. It runs the operating system that a laptop would like Windows or maybe Linux, but it's not a laptop. And I'll tell you why. There are a few differences. Let's start off, I'm gonna tell …

netbooks have getting better =) isint there a dual core netbook out yet? or is it comming 2010?

What an unfortunately wrong, misleading comparison; terms such as "netbook" are moreso for marketing purposes in order to persuade the consumer to rethink a laptop — no wait — a "netbook" that's totally justified because it's cheap and has everything you need and nothing more. There is nothing stopping a company from making a notebook like a netbook and a netbook like a notebook.

There is nothing stopping a company from juicing up a "netbook" and slimming down a "notebook".

I wouldn't buy a netbook for a hundred dollars. Maybe if they built them with belt clip so you can wear it like a holster and in concert with cell phone ability and a nice non-Bluetooth headset–and shielding against all those nasty EMs that do damage to body parts they are closest to, I'd buy one (but again, for only a hundred buckers).

rofl what computer would have 4gb space today? Even micro sd card have 16gb! it's smaller than postage stamp so there could be about hunded of those in laptop..

    Im with you buddy.

  8. eTristan1996 says:

Yeah a netbook is my main computer and it sucks. Never buy one.

its got to be under 1.6 GHz. If its dual core, its not a netbook. Did you even watch the video? lol.

You were unnecessarily discouraged. Every netbook out there can run Word–and probably Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint at the same time. I run EVERYTHING on my netbook. It's not the fastest, but it's perfectly acceptable performance for the vast majority of things.

you'd be better off with a windows 6.5 mobile, phone and netbook in one.

i think you're wrong in many things you're saying. I had a Notebook and now the Acer one. you didn't mention the biggest problem of netbooks, the non-standard resolution. btw, you picked u the worst of netbooks, the acer. but anyway, I prefer netbooks. I'd never buy a notebook again. no need for DVD-drive, no need 1TB hdd, no need 4Gb-Ram, no need 15"display.
Need longlasting battery, need portability, need connectivity

In Britain, you can pick these up from PC World from about £154. Mega Affordable. He says it's pretty much useless for gaming, but with a 1.6Ghz Processor you could easily get Counter Strike: Source onto it and play it with no problems, unless you don't have internet connection. The downside it a tiny screen…

Counter Strike? But we are in 2009!. Of course you can run CS there, you can also run Quake III Arena. But obviously he's talking about actual games like Crysis or Call Of Duty.

but can you reply to your pm on youtube channel cuz i was recently tricked to buy the iphone thinking the youtube would be fully functionable but its not!!! it's what they call "mobile youtube" and ence hasnt got the full features as your normal computer version such as like as i mentioned personal messaging….i guess my question to you before i go and buy one and get fooled again! is that is netbook a full computer minus the cd drive or less memory or a glorified iphone???

  23. Daxter609 says:

I still prefer notebooks I really don't care for the mobile internet. You can a notebook cheap as a netbook and have better specs you have to look places like CompUsa instead of off retails like HP and etc. Its ironic how people are demanding bigger mobile computers yet they complain about the weight. netbooks are probaly going to stay small for a long till they fubd a way for them to be like laptops till then I stick with my schools 12" macbooks and 17" dells

  24. mrsodenkirk says:

Wow, its so cool that tech advances so fast. This video was from last year when netbooks were really just starting out. Now I there are models that can support up to 4gb of ram.

But seriously for doing stuff like After Effects or Maya, stick to a laptop or desktop. Although, I'm pretty sure someone is going to comment and say "I run them all the time on my netbook." Then I would have to ask what model and make is this magical netbook, I want to buy it.
