Actually I like Kubuntu 11.04 for it’s nice look, but I tried it and got a lot of bugs. So I switched back to 10.04 because it’s stable. Looks like I need to wait for next stable release 12.04.
@novelldesktop I really don’t know if I should choose xubuntu or kubuntu. I got a slow singlecore amd sempron 145 3.2ghz . NVIDIA geforce 310 512mb and 2gb RAM. I love to play games like Minecraft and counterstrike. So can anyone help me out? Xubuntu or kubuntu???
@MetalxShredder600 It’s always a good thing to stick with an older version for a while even if a new one is released. New version tends to have many bugs and it usually takes a couple of months to fix it more or less (notebook-user, never used Ubuntu on a PC for I don’t have one right now). But in the end it’s you who has to decide.
PS: I find KDE over-bloated especially on OpenSuSe.
As for resource hogging – I am running Kubuntu (with compositing) on my 1.6GhZ netbook and it runs really smoothly.
In fact it seems twice as fast and responsive than the basic Compiz+Unity setting.
@Bowen96dude Speak for yourself.. I have plenty of resources. lol Seriously.. I just downloaded the 64 bit version and this has got to be the best KDE distro I have ever seen. It runs smoothy and looks fantastic. LOVE IT! Guess what? I’m now using it.
After using this distro for a few days I have to say I am very very impressed and am going to keep this for daily use.Couple of minor observations/complaints FYI: For some reason I am unable to engage 3 desktop effects using my ATI 5700 using the proprietary drivers.. all the others are working great. Also, It’s a little too easy to mess up the task bar when fiddling around with it so be careful! Once U get used to it no problem but lock ur widgets when done. Other than that, fantastic distro!
@novelldesktop yeah it doesnt work keep in mind that i am using mint 9 with kde afetr that if i use mint 10 or 11 the wirelles wiil not work so may be is the linux headers so i am not sure

Good job. Enjoyed this video. Very informative. Going to download Kubuntu 11.04 and give it a try myself.
@scott842 runs very well and fast too
Can you make a Xubuntu review?

@twanajester23 kubuntu is heavy on ram, so i would use lubuntu or xubuntu very light desktops
@novelldesktop ok, Thanks for fast response! Which is better for me, kubuntu or xubuntu? I really need the best for my pc.
@novelldesktop I ment lubuntu not kubuntu sorry
support 1080p videos?
@twanajester23 Depends on your PC’s hardware dude, can you post the specs here? RAM memory and processor info is important too
@91jmda 2gb RAM.
which is better to use right now, kubuntu 11.04 or 10.10?

@twanajester23 Kubuntu is very cool, but at the expense of your resources, so choose xubuntu or lubuntu or something.
@twanajester23 Forget Kubuntu on that machine. Xubuntu would be much, much better. Also, Lubuntu is even more lightweight and would run a lot faster.
