Weird. I have an Ideapad S10e running Windows 7 and an old Sony Vaio with a P4 2.2 and 1 GB DDR running Windows 7 as well. Additionally I have an old Dell, P4 1.8 GHz with 512MB DDR successfully running 7 as well.

7 is a great operating system.

Because ARM machines can't natively run MS Windows. A lot of Mini 10v netbooks will end up running MS Windows XP and Dell can't ignore that huge crowd. Try to give the decent machine for a movable price to the widest possible audience to reduce costs. I suspect they're already playing around with a Mini ARM prototype "just in case" things change for rapid release. Their point was that it can run varies OSs making the trade offs more palatable. Besides, this thing can even run Mac OS X (w/tweak).

It's the machine on the left. He intros it at 1:02 in the video.

    Android is Linux.

  5. superjamiedotnet says:

    Android is not Linux.

Android is a Linux Kernel running an entirely new implementation of graphics, windowing, libraries and almost anything else you can think of.

Android wouldn't be Android without Linux, but it's not a Linux itself.

  6. beatnikcafe says:

I agree, Android is Linux, it is not Gnome or KDE hence why some people think it's not Linux.

  7. ktroje says:

Intel is slightly more supported, so I've been made to believe. Not to mention that most programs and OS's support Intel. Even some software developers (for any operating system) have Intel in mind.

  8. ktroje says:

So it's not the best Intel offers. It isn't meant for heavy gaming or graphic intensive apps.

  9. Thenextspielberg1987 says:

I don't know much about Android but it sounds like you are just describing a distro.

Politely correct me if I'm wrong, but a distro is a collection of software, all designed to do different tasks with the Linux kernel at its heart.

Could Android be considered a distro because it does run off of the Linux kernel, even if thats the only thing it has in common with a distro like Ubuntu?

  10. xdartgun says:

Android is a linux kernal from google

run mac os x out of box too!

  11. ooMisterVJoo says:

Nice, a Mini with Ubuntu. I'm buying one right now.

  12. Alxegod says:

Android IS Linux. Simply because it runs a Linux kernel, it makes it a 'Linux'. Other things would be GNU/Linux, which uses the GNU tools plus the Linux kernel.

It's just as you said, it has different graphics and such.
Linux doesn't have to be the fact of running GNOME or KDE. As KDE can run even on Windows, and GNOME has no plans of being cross-platform.

We'd love to see your thoughts on the Mini 10. Make one and upload it here, then add it as a video response.

  20. peterborto says:

too cool mini 10 v. I've bought one for my girlfriend :)

  21. adamx20 says:

Wow. I am really disappointed in Android after seeing it on the Mini 10v. What I saw on the HTC Hero was pure awesome, but what ever I just saw today looks terrible.

  22. draftube says:

Intel graphics SUCK! can you make one with nvidia or ati? something with a little more performance would be awesome

  23. draftube says:

HTC added their own UI to it, just like they do with windows mobile, but android is much better

  24. SONIC2620081981 says:

    it does sucked dude

  25. theJojan says:

Why would you want advanced graphics on a netbook? It's not made for gaming.
